Hooked on the job:
Real stories from our crew
vinnie b.
“My name is Vinnie and for me, Naknek serves as a place to disconnect for a couple months and free myself from the insane events happening in the world today. I have spent 2 summers working with AGS as a quality control member and the people who work here along with free snacks/meals during breaks are the main reasons I returned for another season of work.”
Cari B.
“Every year when it starts to get closer to the salmon season, I start to get all giddy just thinking about being back up in Alaska . That shows just how impactful this job can really be. I hope everyone gets to experience a little bit of cannery life!”
Lucy e.
“My name is Lucy and I worked for AGS for 2 salmon seasons. I loved my experience; I met truly wonderful people that I consider some of my best friends, fell in love with the Alaskan lifestyle, and gained indispensable life skills that continue to make me feel capable and confident.”
We grow our crew
from our own catch
At AGS, growing from within is just part of who we are. We love seeing our people succeed, and we’re always keeping an eye out for those sparks of potential. When someone shows interest, initiative, or a knack for something new, we make sure they get the support and opportunities to take the next step. Here, your growth doesn’t go unnoticed—and we’re excited to cheer you on along the way.
Cameron Currie has been a part of the Naknek fishing community since 2004, when he started as a processor right out of high school. After serving as a production and dock lead, he joined Alaska General Seafoods during the 2009 acquisition. Cameron transitioned to year-round operations in 2013 with the fillet team and later served as the freezer and fillet foreman. In 2017, he was promoted to assistant plant manager before taking over as Plant Manager in 2018.
Throughout his two decades in Bristol Bay—from the 43-million-fish run of his first season to the record-breaking 79-million-fish return in 2022—Cameron has remained focused on the fundamentals of safety, quality, and teamwork. Today, he continues to lead our facility with a commitment to supporting his crew and maintaining the high standards of our salmon production.
