Where we are
located: The AGS Naknek Cannery is located approximately 310 miles southwest
of Anchorage, 1/4 mile east of the town of Naknek, along the Naknek River
in Bristol Bay. Within the town of Naknek are a few grocery stores, a
post office, a few hotels/restaurants, and a hardware store. In Naknek,
room and board are provided by us in our bunkhouses if you are hired.
If you are in Naknek prior to being hired, hotels and camping are usually
available.
Hours: Work in the freezer will be split into 12 - 14
hour shifts per day. The cannery usually works for 13 hours per day.
Hours are not guaranteed and the hours worked depend entirely on how
the salmon season harvest goes. We expect workers to stay on the job
until released.
Housing & Meals: AGS does offer their employees
a place to stay and provides meals (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner). Housing
is dormitory style (2 persons per room). Each room is furnished with
a desk, and place to hang clothing. We provide washers, dryers and shower
facilities.
What you must bring: By law, you must furnish documents
within three days of being hired that prove your identity and show that
you can legally work in the United States. For a list of acceptable documents,
contact the State Employment Service office or Immigration and Naturalization
Service (INS) office nearest you.
What else to bring:
Baseball hat and warm hat with ear covers for cold weather,
3 sets of warm work clothes, layered clothing in soft luggage or seabag.
Items such as required medication (a two months supply), extra eyeglasses
or
contacts, towels/washcloths, toilet articles, non-electric alarm clock,
a small notebook to keep track of your hours, and addresses. Identification
and right-to-work in the U. S. documents. Bring enough money for extras
such as medicine, candy, etc.
